Innovation for forming aluminum alloy thin shells at ultra-low temperature by the dual enhancement effect

چکیده

Abstract Integral thin shells made of high strength aluminum alloys are urgently needed in new generation transportation equipment. There challenges to overcoming the co-existing problems wrinkling and splitting by cold forming hot processes. An innovative technology ultra-low temperature has been invented for alloy phenomenon ‘dual enhancement effect’. That means plasticity hardening enhanced simultaneously at temperatures. In this perspective, dual effect is described, development, current state prospects method introduced. This can provide a approach integral components with large size, ultra-thin thickness, strength. tank dome rocket 2 m diameter was formed using blank sheet same thickness as final component, breaking through limit value thickness-diameter ratio.

Flexible Forming of Thin Aluminum Alloy Sheets

Flexible forming is a sheet metal forming process with the application of soft material tooling. In this study, flexible (silicone rubber, SR, and styrene butadiene rubber, SBR) and semi-rigid (polyamide 66, PA) polymeric materials were adopted to make several upper dies which were used in combination with aluminium lower dies. Stamping operations were performed on a thin aluminium alloy sheet ...

Effect of different yield functions on computations of forming limit curves for aluminum alloy sheets

In this article, the effect of different yield functions on prediction of forming limit curve (FLC) for aluminum sheet is studied. Due to importance of FLC in sheet metal forming, concentration on effective parameters must be considered exactly in order to have better theoretical prediction comparing experimental results. Yield function is one of the factors which are improved by adding new coe...

Cast Aluminum Alloy for High Temperature Applications

Originally developed by NASA as high performance piston alloys to meet U.S. automotive legislation requiring low exhaust emission, the novel NASA alloys now offer dramatic increase in tensile strength for many other applications at elevated temperatures from 450°F (232°C) to about 750°F (400°C). It is an ideal low cost material for cast automotive components such as pistons, cylinder heads, cyl...

The Effects of Forming Parameters on the Single Point Incremental Forming of 1050 Aluminum Alloy Sheet

The single point incremental forming (SPIF) is one of the dieless forming processes which is widely used in the sheet metal forming. The correct selection of the SPIF parameters influences the formability and quality of the product. In the present study, the Gurson-Tvergaard Needleman (GTN) damage model was used for the fracture prediction in the numerical simulation of the SPIF process of alum...

Texture Measurement in Aluminum Alloy at High Temperature

The casting and hot rolling process is a most important and widely used industrial route to produce aluminum alloy sheet[I]. Because rolling is such a high volume process and the capital expenditure in plants and fabrication facilities is so large, even small cost savings or increases in efficiency can result in a very large total money savings[2, 3]. To remove the very costly and time-consumin...
